Monkredding House, Category B listed house in Kilwinning, Scotland.
Monkredding House stands as an L-shaped structure with a harled exterior, featuring two stories and a corner staircase turret in North Ayrshire.
The property belonged to Tironensian monks of Kilwinning Abbey until 1539, when the Nevin family acquired the lands and built the original tower house.
The house connects to Robert Burns' literature, as a local blacksmith named John Niven likely inspired a character in the poem 'Tam o'Shanter'.
The building maintains datestones from 1602 and 1638, while the principal facade received extensions to the south during the early nineteenth century.
A ley tunnel reportedly extends from the house to Kilwinning Abbey, suggesting historical connections between these two significant architectural structures.
