Montgreenan, Category A listed manor house in North Ayrshire, Scotland.
Montgreenan is a Georgian manor house set within extensive grounds of gardens and parkland in North Ayrshire. The building was constructed in 1817 and features carefully designed architectural elements created by architect Alexander Thompson.
The estate belonged to Scottish noble families, the Ross and Cunningham clans, for several generations before changing hands. It later became the home of Dr. Robert Glasgow and went through different uses over time.
The house displays typical Georgian style features that reflect how wealthy Scottish families chose to design their homes in the early 1800s. Walking through the rooms and around the grounds, you can see how these design choices shaped daily life for the people who lived here.
The house is located about four miles east of Kilwinning and is easy to reach by car or local transport. The extensive gardens and parkland make comfortable walking shoes essential if you want to explore the full grounds.
Red sandstone milestones collected from different parts of Ayrshire line the driveways leading up to the house. These stones mark the route while also telling the story of the local region through where they came from.
