Newark Park, Tudor hunting lodge in Ozleworth, England.
Newark Park is a country house in Ozleworth, in the Cotswold Hills, built in the 16th century and set within multi-level gardens, woodland, and a lake. The building shows features from several different periods, as it was altered more than once over the centuries.
The house was built around 1550 under the name New Worke, serving as a hunting lodge for members of the nobility. It was gradually transformed into a family home, with each period of renovation leaving its own mark on the structure.
Several rooms display works by local artists, including stained glass windows and paintings made for the house. These pieces give a sense of how art was woven into everyday life here over the centuries.
The property has a car park, a tea pavilion for refreshments, and a second-hand bookshop. Marked paths make self-guided exploration straightforward, but allow enough time to cover the gardens, woodland, and the house itself.
The grounds contain nine geocaching locations that lead visitors into different corners of the property, from the woodland to the garden terraces. The hidden spots can be found in advance on a geocaching platform if you want to come prepared.
