Hertfordshire Zoo, Zoo in Broxbourne, England
Hertfordshire Zoo is an animal park in Broxbourne, England, home to more than 500 animal species, including tigers, white lions, jaguars, snow leopards, zebras, reindeer, red pandas, and meerkats. The park spreads across extensive grounds with themed zones, enclosures, and indoor exhibits that recreate habitats from around the world.
The site opened in 1960 as Broxbourne Zoo and was purchased by the Sampson family in 1984, who completely renovated the premises. Since then, the park has grown into a larger conservation center with breeding and education programs for endangered species.
The name Paradise Wildlife Park emerged after the 1984 renovation by the Sampson family, who transformed the old grounds into a modern animal park. The television series One Zoo Three, filmed here since 2020, shows daily routines of keepers and gives visitors insights into everyday work with the animals.
The park opens daily from half past nine in the morning until six in the evening during summer and five in the evening in winter, with free parking on site. A pickup service from Broxbourne station is available and makes travel by public transport easier.
The Angkor Reptile Temple houses Optimus Prime, the largest anaconda in the United Kingdom. The snake lives in a reconstructed temple that recalls the ruins of Angkor Wat in Cambodia.
