Owlerton

Owlerton is a residential suburb where the River Don and River Loxley converge, featuring neighborhoods and community facilities spread across its streets. The area comprises residential housing, local amenities, and public spaces that serve the everyday needs of people living here.

The area began as an Anglo-Saxon enclosed farmstead and became a small manor following the Norman conquest, with its first written record dating to 1297. The Creswyke family built Owlerton Hall in 1534 and held the land from 1339 until the Property Act of 1926 changed ownership structures.

The Owlerton Greyhound Stadium, established in 1929, remains a gathering place where racing events bring together spectators from the city and beyond throughout the year. These occasions shape local leisure habits and create a focal point for the community.
