Hillsborough Trinity Methodist Church, Methodist church in Hillsborough, Sheffield, England
Hillsborough Trinity Methodist Church is a Methodist place of worship in Sheffield with Gothic design features and a strong street presence. The building sits on Middlewood Road across from Hillsborough Park, accompanied by two adjoining structures from 1901 and 1963.
The church was built in 1902 by architect John W. Firth on land acquired from the owner of Hillsborough Hall. It emerged during a period when Methodist places of worship were being established across Sheffield at a rapid pace.
The church serves as a gathering place for young people in the neighborhood through several youth groups that use its spaces throughout the week. These organizations shape how the building functions as more than just a Sunday worship venue.
The church holds regular Sunday services, and its adjoining spaces remain active with various groups throughout the week. Visitors will find clear street access and straightforward orientation thanks to its location across from the park.
Of eight Methodist places of worship that existed in Hillsborough during the early 1900s, this is the sole survivor still serving its original purpose. This continuity makes it a rare example of Methodist architecture from that era.
