Redbridge College, Educational institution in Little Heath, Romford, United Kingdom.
Redbridge College was a further education college with two campuses serving the Ilford and Romford areas of East London, offering vocational and academic courses for people aged 16 and over. The main campus sat on Barley Lane in Romford, close to King George Hospital.
The institution was founded in 1970 as Redbridge Technical College and served the local community as a training center. In March 2017 it merged with New City College, ending its independent history.
The college was known for its programs for deaf students and those with learning difficulties, making it an open place for a wide range of people. Such offerings were rare in East London and drew students from a broad area.
The main site in Romford is well served by public transport, with bus and train connections nearby. Anyone planning to visit should be aware that since 2017 the site has been part of New City College, so the name and course offer may have changed.
The college built close partnerships with local employers so that students could gain real work experience while still studying. This direct link to working life was unusual for an institution of its size in the area.
