Rigby's Buildings, Grade II listed pub on Dale Street, Liverpool, England
Rigby's Buildings is a five-story Grade II listed building on Dale Street featuring a stucco facade decorated with carved wooden grotesques. Each floor displays seven bays of four-pane sash windows, while the upper levels now function as office spaces alongside the ground-floor pub.
The structure was originally built in 1728 and underwent major reconstruction around 1850 before Alderman Thomas Rigby acquired it in 1852. This renovation shaped the building's current appearance while connecting its long past to contemporary uses.
Thomas Rigby's on the ground floor serves as a meeting place where you can experience the social customs of a traditional Liverpool pub. The space maintains the character that reflects how people have gathered in this location over generations.
The building sits on Dale Street in a central location and is easy to reach on foot, with the pub on the ground floor offering straightforward access. Bear in mind that the structure has listed status, so any alterations require special approval.
The second floor features elaborate balconies and varied pediments above the windows, topped by a parapet bearing the inscription 'Rigby's Buildings'. Corner urns add a distinctive finishing touch that catches the eye when you look up.
