Rock Hall, Grade II* listed building in Rennington, England
Rock Hall features thick stone walls up to 1.7 meters wide, combining medieval construction with subsequent additions from different architectural periods.
The structure dates back to the 13th century and served as headquarters for Spanish mercenaries under Sir Julian Romero during conflicts with Scotland in 1549.
Permission for divine services was granted at Rock Hall's Oratory in 1359, establishing its early connection to religious practices in Northumberland.
The building currently operates as a youth hostel, allowing visitors to stay within its historical walls while exploring the Northumberland region.
Three sundials from the 17th century remain on the building's exterior, with two dated 1690 and one from 1671.
