St Martin-on-the-Hill, Scarborough

St Martin-on-the-Hill is an Anglican church in Scarborough featuring Gothic Revival architecture. The building displays a north tower, saddleback roof, clerestory windows, and detailed stained glass throughout.

George Frederick Bodley designed this church, which was consecrated in 1861. The building suffered damage from German bombardment in December 1914 during the First World War.

The pulpit displays ten painted panels from Victorian artists who drew inspiration from medieval craftsmanship. Visitors can see how these painters interpreted traditional artistic styles for their own time.
