St Helen's Bishopsgate, Medieval Anglican church in City of London, England

St Helen's Bishopsgate features two parallel naves, multiple memorial monuments, and intricate stone carvings throughout its Grade I listed structure.

Built around 1250 as a Benedictine priory, the church survived the Great Fire of London in 1666 and underwent major restoration after IRA bombings in 1992.

William Shakespeare attended services at St Helen's Bishopsgate in 1590, and scientist Robert Hooke was buried within the church grounds in 1703.

The church maintains regular worship services and welcomes visitors to explore its architectural features between Monday and Friday during daylight hours.

The building's distinctive L-shaped layout results from merging two medieval churches: the northern section for nuns and the southern part for parish members.
