Swindon Mechanics' Institute, Grade II* listed building in Emlyn Square, Swindon, England.

The Victorian-era Mechanics' Institute building features symmetrical architecture with large windows and a central entrance in the railway village district.

The Institute, completed in 1855 by architect Edward Roberts, was funded through subscriptions from Great Western Railway workers at Swindon Railway Works.

The Institute established the first lending library in 1843, growing from 130 books to become a center for education and knowledge dissemination.

Located in Central Swindon South, the building requires substantial restoration work following its closure in 1986 and subsequent damage from vandalism.

The Institute's health services system became a model for the National Health Service, as noted by NHS founder Nye Bevan.
