Stonor Park

Stonor Park is a country estate with a medieval house in the Chiltern Hills, showing architecture from different periods layered over centuries. The property contains rooms with Gothic revival features, historic libraries, and gardens that blend into the surrounding parkland.

The Stonor family has lived on this estate for more than 850 years, guiding it through major periods of English history. The house was rebuilt and enlarged multiple times, with its oldest sections reaching back to the Middle Ages.

The private chapel, dating from the 13th century, served as a central location for Catholic worship during periods of religious restriction.

The grounds have marked walking paths that run through the deer park and connect different parts of the estate. A café in a converted medieval space provides refreshments and a place to rest during your visit.

A prehistoric stone circle is built into the house structure, with one ancient stone incorporated into the southeast corner of the chapel. This fragment from prehistoric times creates an unexpected contrast with the medieval rooms around it.
