Westbourne Studios, Arts venue and office building in North Kensington, United Kingdom
Westbourne Studios is an arts venue and office building in North Kensington with a triangular shape and deep purple exterior. The structure contains approximately 100 work spaces for creative businesses, communal areas, a bar, a cafe, and exhibition spaces.
The building was constructed in 2002 on the site of former Great Western Railway tracks that once carried freight and passengers. This location near Westbourne Park tube station marks a conversion of industrial land into a creative space.
The studios function as a meeting place for artists and creative professionals who display and exchange their work here. The space draws visitors interested in discovering local art projects and participating in film festivals.
The Westway motorway passes through the center of the building and forms the roof of the social area, creating an unusual experience for visitors. The site is easily accessible by public transport, and there are various facilities on site including a cafe and exhibition areas.
The distinctive U-shaped layout emerged from integrating the existing Westway motorway into the building design during construction. This unconventional arrangement creates a rare combination of urban infrastructure and creative spaces found nowhere else.
