Wingham Wildlife Park

Wingham Wildlife Park is a zoo in Dover spread across 26 acres with more than 200 animal species housed in habitats designed to resemble their natural environments. Mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates are all represented throughout the grounds.

The park was founded in 1986 as a bird sanctuary focused on aviary species and waterfowl before gradually evolving into a facility for diverse animals. This growth allowed the site to become home to a much wider range of creatures over the following decades.

The park serves as a place where visitors come to learn about animals and their habitats, with school groups visiting regularly for hands-on education. Families use the space to experience wildlife in a way that connects them to conservation and environmental care.

The park is open daily and features pathways suitable for different levels of mobility, making it easy to move through the grounds. A cafe serves refreshments and light meals, while an indoor play space provides activities for younger children.

Two male Humboldt penguins at the park successfully incubated and raised a chick together, an unusual accomplishment in animal care. This achievement demonstrates how animals in human care can display natural parenting behaviors in unexpected ways.
