Minsteracres

Minsteracres is a three-story stone mansion built in 1758 with a north wing added in 1865, retaining its original architectural character. The property now operates as a retreat center with guest accommodations located in converted stable buildings on the grounds.

The Silvertop family built the house in 1758, and in 1949 the property was purchased and became a Passionist Monastery. This change marked the start of its use as a religious retreat space.

The chapel inside honors Saint Elizabeth of Hungary and displays large-scale murals created in the 1960s that shape the spiritual character of the space. These artworks give visitors a direct sense of the religious life that continues here.

The property provides overnight accommodations for visitors and operates as an open retreat center. It is worth planning ahead since the site functions as a working religious community.

The lodges flanking the entrance, the gatehouse screen, and several farm buildings across the property each hold their own Grade II listed status. This network of protected structures makes the entire site an architectural ensemble with historical importance.
