Mountsfield Park, Urban park in Catford, London Borough of Lewisham, United Kingdom.
Mountsfield Park is a 13-hectare urban park with sports courts, open grassland, a bandstand, and a community garden arranged across multiple levels. The varied terrain creates distinct zones for different activities throughout the space.
The land came from the estate of entomologist Henry Stainton, who built Mountsfield House in 1845. His widow later donated the property for public use.
The park hosts Lewisham People's Day each July, when live music and community activities fill the grounds. These gatherings show how the space serves as a meeting point for locals.
You can enter the park from several points along Stainton Road, Brownhill Road, George Lane, and Carswell Road. The grounds are open year-round and the multiple entrances make it easy to explore different areas.
From the elevated sections of the park you can look toward Crystal Palace, the City of London, Forest Hill, and Hilly Fields. These vantage points reveal how the park sits within London's broader landscape.
