Balbithan House, Category A listed house in Keithhall and Kinkell, Scotland.

Balbithan House is a stone building with an L-shaped design that originated in the second half of the 17th century, featuring additions from later periods built onto the original core. The structure presents different building styles and construction techniques from various eras, creating a layered appearance.

The house was built in the second half of the 17th century in an area that was once called Montkeggie before the Keith family took control of the land. It has been modified and expanded multiple times since its original construction.

The house shows how it evolved over time as different owners made changes and additions to suit their needs. Walking around it, you can see these different periods layered into its structure.

The building is located in rural Aberdeenshire and is accessible through standard navigation tools. Planning a visit during drier months is advisable since the surrounding countryside can become wet and muddy during rainy periods.

The land around it contains the East Aquhorthies stone circle and Pictish stones, ancient remains that predate the house by centuries. These prehistoric monuments are scattered nearby and add depth to exploring the area.
