Church of Our Lady and St Peter, Leatherhead, Catholic church in Leatherhead, England.
The Church of Our Lady and St Peter is a Roman Catholic building located at the junction of Copthorne Road and Garlands Road, featuring architectural design by Joseph Goldie from the 1920s. The structure combines traditional church architecture with design elements characteristic of that period.
St Peter Mission was founded in 1915 by Fr Bernard Kelly, and the building itself was constructed in 1922 with financial backing from businessman Edward Hulton. The early 20th century thus marked both the establishment of the mission and the realization of its church structure.
The interior displays a stained glass window by Paul Woodroffe that was featured on a 1992 Royal Mail stamp, reflecting the artistic recognition this work received beyond the local community.
The location is easily accessible from both main roads and provides parking facilities at Garlands Road for visitors. Regular worship services take place here, so checking opening times beforehand helps ensure a good visit.
The Stations of the Cross were designed by Eric Gill, the same artist who created those in Westminster Cathedral. His nephew John Skelton also contributed to this church, crafting the baptismal font.
