Church of St Christopher, Norris Green

St Christopher is an Anglican church featuring a cruciform design with a four-bay nave, north and south transepts, and a tower at the crossing. The structure includes three-bay cloisters and blends Art Deco and Byzantine elements throughout.

The church was built between 1930 and 1932 as a religious building for the Norris Green community. It gained Grade II* listed status in 1981, marking its recognition as an architecturally significant structure of the interwar period.

The building shows Byzantine influences, particularly in its three-bay cloisters with rounded arches and detailed interior work. You can see sculptural elements by Bainbridge Copnall featuring on the open-air pulpit.

The building sits on Lorenzo Drive with easy access to local public transport options nearby. Visitors can reach it straightforwardly for services or to view the architecture.

The construction was partly funded by children from the Liverpool Diocese who wanted to support the project. This involvement is reflected in child sculptures that were incorporated into the Art Deco design.
