Longner Hall, Country house in Atcham, England

Longner Hall is a red sandstone country house with two storeys and an irregular floor plan, set within a large landscaped park near Shrewsbury. The building was constructed in 1803 and stands surrounded by 170 acres of maintained grounds that shape its rural setting.

Architect John Nash designed this house in 1803 for Robert Burton, a prominent landowner of the region. The property reflects the architectural ideas and social circumstances of the early 1800s that shaped its creation and purpose.

The name reflects the families who have called this place home for generations, shaping its character through daily life. Walking through the rooms, you notice personal touches and arrangements that reveal how people actually inhabit such a grand space.

Visitors should be ready for limited opening times and gather information in advance, especially for solo or group visits. Access to the property often requires advance planning, so it helps to check ahead before traveling.

The grounds hold a Grade II protected tomb of Edward Burton from 1558, which carries its own historical story. This monument marks a lesser-known moment in local history that many visitors overlook.
