Eleanor Rigby statue, Bronze sculpture near Cavern Club, Liverpool, England
The bronze figure depicts a woman seated on a stone bench, holding a handbag with a shopping bag and newspaper placed beside her on Stanley Street.
Tommy Steele created and unveiled this sculpture in December 1982, after offering it to Liverpool City Council for three pence to honor the Beatles.
The statue represents the main character from the Beatles song Eleanor Rigby, incorporating themes of urban solitude through its positioning and composition.
The 128-centimeter-tall sculpture stands between railings outside the former General Post Office building, near St Johns Beacon and Martins Bank Building.
Inside the hollow bronze structure, Tommy Steele placed several objects including an adventure book, Bible page, cloverleaf, football boots, and a sonnet.
