St Enghenedl's Church, Llanynghenedl, Medieval church in Llanynghenedl, Wales.
St Enghenedl's Church is a medieval church building located on the Isle of Anglesey in Wales with a simple rectangular layout. The structure contained a continuous nave and chancel, a south porch, and a north vestry that together formed the complete worship space.
The building was constructed in 1862 to replace an earlier church from the 13th century that previously stood on this site. The new structure brought together architectural elements and decorative styles from different periods of Welsh religious tradition.
The name Saint Enghenedl comes from a royal Welsh saint of the 6th century whose father was a king of Powys. This place remains the only church in Wales dedicated to this particular saint, making it special to visitors interested in Welsh religious heritage.
The building was taken apart in 1988 and reconstructed at a different location to serve a nearby RAF base. Visitors should know that the original site no longer contains the building, as it was completely moved and reassembled elsewhere.
The church held a silver chalice from the early 18th century that bore engravings with the names of its church officials from that time. This precious object served as a record of the religious leadership during that period, engraved with their identities.
