Corse Castle, Tower house in Coull, Scotland
The L-shaped stone fortress stands with a round stair tower on its southern face and another round tower at its northwest corner.
William Forbes commissioned the construction of this fortress in 1581 after brigands destroyed the previous residence at this location.
The castle represents the architectural preferences of Scottish minor nobility, combining residential comfort with defensive features through its Z-plan layout.
Visitors can reach the castle ruins by turning north from B9119 road and following the minor road west past a modern mansion.
The structure incorporates an unusual combination of both L and Z architectural plans, setting it apart from traditional Scottish tower houses.
