Originally built as a monastic grange for Shaftesbury Abbey in the 14th century, the farmhouse underwent significant modifications during the 19th century under Fonthill Estate ownership.
The building incorporates architectural elements from multiple periods, including a 15th-century Tudor-arched stone fireplace measuring four meters wide in the north kitchen.
The farmhouse maintains its agricultural function with a detached stable to the north that currently serves as a calf shed for livestock operations.
The interior preserves an arch-braced collar truss roof with curved wind bracing, demonstrating medieval engineering techniques that remain intact today.
