Dalton Mills

Dalton Mills is a large brick mill complex with several interconnected buildings and a prominent tall chimney rising above the area. The site comprises three main mill buildings that were constructed in the 1860s and 1870s and served different roles in textile production.

The mill was founded by J&J Craven company during the boom years of textile manufacturing, reflecting a crucial chapter in West Yorkshire's industrialization. These buildings emerged when Keighley was growing into a significant center for wool processing.

For over a century, the mill was central to Keighley's textile industry and shaped the daily lives of workers and their families in the area. The buildings tell through their design what industrial working conditions demanded and how people labored within these structures.

The site is located on Dalton Lane in Keighley and is accessible from the road for walking and viewing the exterior. The buildings are currently undergoing development work, so it is worth checking ahead to see if the site is open to visitors.

The site was used as a filming location for various television productions and served as a setting for scenes from the series Peaky Blinders. In 2022, the complex suffered fire damage, adding another dramatic chapter to its story.
