Snape Castle, Medieval castle in Snape, North Yorkshire, England.

The castle consists of a central courtyard measuring 140 feet north to south and 180 feet west to east, with Perpendicular windows and Elizabethan chimneys.

The Neville family owned Snape Castle from the early 15th century until the 16th century, when Sir Thomas Cecil acquired it through marriage in 1577.

The private chapel of St Mary contains remnants of decorative artwork by Italian painter Antonio Verrio and features a memorial to First World War casualties.

The castle's undercroft section now functions as holiday accommodation with two bedrooms, accepting visitors and one dog for minimum two-night stays.

During the Pilgrimage of Grace in 1537, Katherine Parr and her children were held hostage at the castle until John Neville negotiated their release.
