Acton Burnell Hall

Acton Burnell Hall is a classical mansion built in 1814 with a symmetrical facade and ornamental stonework near an ancient castle location. The building houses classrooms, dormitories, and administrative offices for an international school while retaining its original structural character.

The Smythe family built this residence during the Georgian architectural period, drawing inspiration from the medieval castle ruins nearby. The grounds later included a Gothic folly called Sham Castle constructed in 1780 as part of the estate's landscaping development.

The hall hosts students from around the world who live and study within the rooms of a traditional English country estate. This international community adds a contemporary dimension to the historic setting while maintaining the formal character of the house.
