St John's Church, Warminster, Grade II* listed Anglican church in Boreham, Warminster, England.
St John's Church is an Anglican church in Warminster featuring Early English Gothic architecture with pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and flying buttresses in its stone structure. The building incorporates detailed architectural elements that distinguish this period style.
The church was completed in 1865 to address overcrowding at the neighbouring parish church, after William Temple donated the construction site. A western baptistery was added between 1925 and 1926, expanding the original design by architect George Edmund Street.
The church displays stained glass windows and sculptures created by notable artists that shape its interior character. These works reflect the artistic choices made during its development.
The church is straightforward to explore, and stepping inside provides a clear view of the overall layout. Access to different areas allows visitors to examine the architectural details and artistic elements throughout the space.
A western baptistery was added decades after the original completion, showing how the church adapted over time. This later addition significantly expanded the original functional and spatial design.
