Parish Church of St Denys, Grade II* listed medieval church in Warminster, England
St Denys Parish Church is a medieval stone building built in a cross shape with a tower at its center. The structure includes two spiral staircase towers and rows of side windows that flood the interior with daylight.
Building started in the 11th century but the structure was largely rebuilt during the 14th century. A major restoration in the late 1800s by architect Arthur Blomfield shaped the building visitors see today.
The stained glass windows were created by celebrated artists of the Victorian era and fill the interior with colored light. These works show the craftsmanship and artistic values that mattered to the community during that period.
The church is easy to reach with a bus stop nearby and on-street parking available within walking distance. Dogs are welcome in the main areas, making it accessible for visitors traveling with pets.
An organ case from 1792 originally installed in Salisbury Cathedral now sits at the center of this church. This instrument creates an unexpected link between two important religious buildings in the region.
