Shepton Mallet Market Cross, Market cross in Shepton Mallet, England

The hexagonal Market Cross structure stands 50 feet tall, featuring six arches forming an arcade around a central pier with Doulting stone construction.

Walter Buckland and his wife Agnes funded the first market cross construction in 1500, which was later rebuilt by George Phillips Manners in 1841.

The market cross served as a central location for trade, public announcements, and community gatherings throughout different periods of Shepton Mallet's development.
