Church Of St Mary, Medieval parish church in Caldicot, Wales.
The Church of St Mary is a stone parish church featuring a substantial tower built in the 14th century, along with a nave, chancel, and reconstructed north aisle. The structure combines medieval foundations with Victorian-era interior enhancements.
An earlier church dedicated to St Bride stood at this location before 900 under the direction of Walter of Gloucester. The present building replaced this predecessor and was later expanded with the distinctive 14th-century tower.
The interior displays Victorian stained glass windows that cast colored light through the nave and chancel. The ringing of eight bells, including a tenor cast in 1450, continues to mark time in the village.
The building is open to visitors during regular hours, typically on weekdays and around service times. The church sits within easy walking distance of the village center and has parking available nearby.
The building received Grade I listed status in 1955, marking its importance in British heritage protection. It served as a filming location for the comedy film Plots with a View in 2002.
