Homage to Leonardo, Bronze statue in Belgrave Square, London, United Kingdom.

Homage to Leonardo is a bronze sculpture in Belgrave Square that creates a three-dimensional interpretation of Leonardo's famous drawing. The figure features extended limbs held in multiple positions at once, forming a circular composition.

Italian sculptor Enzo Plazzotta designed this work in 1981, and his assistant Mark Holloway completed it following Plazzotta's death in 1982. The piece was created as an artistic tribute to Leonardo's timeless research into anatomy and human proportions.

The statue shows how Leonardo da Vinci saw the human body as a perfect form combining anatomy and harmony. Visitors can observe how the extended limbs express this balance between science and visual art.

The statue stands in the middle of a calm square and is easy to explore on foot, especially if you want to see the bronze details from close up. Try viewing it from different angles, as the light changes how it looks throughout the day.

What makes this sculpture special is its mathematical precision: the body positions are based on exact geometric proportions that reflect Plazzotta's understanding of Leonardo's scientific method. This turns the artwork itself into another demonstration of the lasting connection between mathematics and human form.
