Lower Barracks

The Lower Barracks is a military museum in Winchester housed in Serle's House, a Grade II* listed building dating from 1730. The site contains exhibitions about the Royal Hampshire Regiment and military training and operations that took place in this area.

The building started as a civilian residence in 1730 but converted to military use in 1796, serving as a supply depot during the Napoleonic Wars. It later became a major barracks facility that housed military personnel for more than a century.
