Càrn Liath

Càrn Liath, Mountain summit in Perth and Kinross and Angus, Scotland.

Càrn Liath is a 976-meter summit featuring two peaks of similar height linked by a broad eastern ridge. The dual nature of the summit creates a distinctive outline across the Scottish Highland landscape.

The mountain underwent a naming change when measurements of the western summit led to renaming the eastern peak as Creag an Dail Bheag. This shift reflects how improvements in surveying methods updated local geographical records over time.

The mountain sits within the Beinn a'Ghlò range, where climbers regularly share their experiences and document routes. It serves as a destination for those seeking multi-peak adventures in the Scottish Highlands.

Multiple ascending routes depart from Aberarder, with alternative starting points available at Aberarder Lodge located about 5 kilometers to the east. Choosing your starting point depends on preferred route features and facility availability at each location.

The location allows walkers to summit multiple Munros - peaks above 914 meters - during a single expedition. This combination opportunity makes it particularly rewarding for experienced climbers pursuing ambitious mountain objectives.
