77–78 Pall Mall, Grade II listed building in Westminster, England
77-78 Pall Mall is a Grade II listed building with distinctive yellow brickwork, bay windows, and a Venetian window across its front elevation. The architecture reflects Victorian design choices that were incorporated during its development phases.
The building underwent major changes between 1720 and 1724 under Claudius Amyard, who served as principal surgeon to the King of England. In 1863 a new ballroom was added and used to host celebrations for the Prince of Wales marriage.
The property gained prominence in 1863 when its newly constructed ballroom hosted a celebration for the Prince of Wales marriage ceremony.
The building now operates as a business center with professional office spaces while maintaining its heritage-protected status. Its exterior features are visible from the street, though interior access is typically restricted to business occupants and authorized visitors.
In 1882 the Dowager Marchioness of Ailesbury divided the unified property back into two separate residences by creating an additional entrance. This split determined how the spaces were later occupied and managed.
