Petersham Lodge, Grade II listed house in Richmond upon Thames, England.
Petersham Lodge is an early 18th-century residential house in Richmond built with traditional English architecture and elements from earlier reconstructions. Located on River Lane, the building displays typical features of upscale domestic construction from that period and looks out over the surrounding London landscape.
The house was built in the early 18th century for Catherine Douglas, Duchess of Queensberry, following an earlier redesign in 1691. It later passed to nobility from the British royal family, including the future King William IV.
The house reflects the refined lifestyle that was long shaped by nobility and wealthy London residents. Visitors can still see today the care with which such properties were designed and maintained.
The house sits in a quiet residential area of Richmond, served by bus routes 65 and 371 and within reach of Richmond station. Since it is a private residence, visitors can view it only from outside and should respect the privacy of current residents.
Prince Rupert Loewenstein, financial manager of the Rolling Stones, lived here from 1987 to 2014. His residence connected the house to a notable chapter in rock music history.
