Town Hall, Grade II listed town hall in Oldham, England
Town Hall is a Greek revival building on Yorkshire Street in central Oldham featuring a tetrastyle Ionic portico. After extensive renovation, it now houses an Odeon multiplex cinema with integrated dining and bar facilities.
The building was completed in 1841 under architect George Woodhouse and served as the seat of Oldham's Municipal Borough from 1849 onwards. It remained the administrative center until 1977 before being repurposed in later decades.
Winston Churchill delivered his first acceptance speech from the town hall steps in 1900 when elected as Conservative Member of Parliament.
The building sits on a central street and is easily reached on foot, with parking available nearby for those arriving by car. It is worth checking current cinema opening times before visiting, as these may vary by season.
Several owl figures perch on the roof, adding an unexpected decorative feature to the structure. A modern glass light box was added on the Clegg Street side as a new entrance, blending old and new design.
