Mount Magazine

Mount Magazine is a summit in the Ozark range that reaches 839 meters elevation with steep sandstone cliffs and a flat-topped peak. The formation creates varied landscapes as visitors move from the lower slopes through to the plateau.

A French explorer named Jean-Baptiste Bernard de La Harpe documented this location in 1722 while traveling through the Arkansas River Valley. The early records helped establish knowledge of the region's geography for European maps.
