Prudential Tower, Office skyscraper in Back Bay, Boston, United States
The Prudential Tower rises 749 feet (228 meters) across 52 floors and shows a distinct International Style design within the Boston skyline. Its angular lines and glass facade shape the cityscape in the Back Bay neighborhood.
The tower was completed in 1964 and marked the first skyscraper built in Boston after the Custom House Tower in 1915. Its construction launched a new era of vertical development and changed the appearance of the city.
The building lights up in different colors to celebrate local sports team victories and mark important city moments. This tradition connects the tower to daily life and makes it a living part of the urban fabric.
The View Boston observation deck covers three floors near the top and offers a full panorama of the region. Access is through elevators that start from the ground level.
A radio mast on top extends the total height to 907 feet (276 meters) and makes it the tallest structure in all of New England. This added element is visible from many points across the city and serves telecommunications.
