Maple Lawn, Gothic Revival house in Balmville, Newburgh, US.

The two-and-a-half-story red brick residence features a steeply-pitched gabled roof, three chimneys, and white quatrefoil-pierced vergeboards on its front facade.

Frederick Clarke Withers designed this house in 1859 during a period when Newburgh experienced economic growth from river trade and industrial development.

The architectural design reflects the Gothic Revival movement of the mid-19th century, which sought to incorporate medieval elements into residential buildings.

Located on Downing Avenue, the property spans 1.19 acres and includes the main house along with a mansard-roofed privy made of brick and brownstone.

The residence earned its name from numerous maple trees that once surrounded the property until their destruction by a hurricane.
