Rincón

Rincón extends across the Western Coastal Valley region, featuring several beaches that face both the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.

The municipality of Rincón, established by Luis de Añasco in 1771, underwent significant transformation after hosting the World Surfing Championship at Domes Beach in 1968.

The central plaza serves as a community gathering space with the Parroquia Santa Rosa de Lima church hosting religious ceremonies and traditional festivals throughout the year.

The municipality contains eight public schools managed by the Puerto Rico Department of Education and provides accommodations ranging from small inns to large coastal resorts.

During winter months, the waters near Rincón become a natural observation point for humpback whales migrating through the Mona Passage.
