Playa Steps, Sand beach in Rincón, Puerto Rico
Playa Steps is a sand beach in Rincón with a concrete staircase leading down to golden sand bordered by almond trees. The water is clear and the shoreline offers natural shade along the water's edge.
The name comes from concrete steps that were left from a former residence on the property. The area later became protected as part of the Tres Palmas Marine Reserve.
The beach attracts surfers during winter months when ocean conditions are at their peak, and the spot has become a gathering place for people who practice this water sport.
Access to the beach is via a concrete staircase that is easy to spot and navigate. Parking is available nearby but fills up quickly during busy periods.
From January through March, visitors can watch humpback whales pass by the coast during their migration. At the same time, several sea turtle species come ashore to nest between February and August.
