Anthony's Nose, Mountain peak in Hudson Highlands, New York, United States
The granite mountain rises 927 feet above sea level, featuring multiple trails that lead to panoramic views of the Hudson River and Bear Mountain Bridge.
During the Revolutionary War, a defensive chain stretched from Fort Montgomery to Anthony's Nose, preventing British ships from navigating up the Hudson River.
The mountain received its name in 1697, appearing on the Highland Patent grant, with connections to early Dutch settlers of the New York region.
Hikers can access the summit via a 2.6-mile round trip trail, beginning near Route 9D with parking available at designated spots along the road.
Large calcite crystals can be found in the railroad cut at the base of Anthony's Nose, revealing the mountain's geological composition of Canada Hill granite.
