Ben Hawes Golf Course and Park

Ben Hawes Golf Course and Park is a public golf facility in Owensboro featuring an 18-hole regulation course and a 9-hole par 3 course across 297 acres. The terrain varies with rolling hills on the front nine holes and flatter ground on the back nine.

Owensboro purchased the property in 1962 from its former coal mining use and opened it as a recreational facility on Memorial Day 1964. The transformation of a mining site into a golf course marked a turning point for the city's development.

The park serves locals as a gathering space where people play golf, attend events, and enjoy outdoor activities together. It has become a central place for community recreation and leisure time throughout the seasons.
