Temple Adath Israel

Temple Adath Israel is a Moorish Revival synagogue in Owensboro, Kentucky, featuring a three-bay facade with pilasters and cast-iron railings decorated with intricate Moresque patterns. German-made stained glass windows light the interior space and contribute to the architectural character of the building.

The building was constructed in 1877, following the establishment of the Hebrew Benefit and Burial Society in the 1850s. Its construction marked when the early Jewish community had a permanent center in Owensboro.
