Freeman Grant Cary Pleasant Hill Academy, militaire opleidingsfaciliteit in de Verenigde Staten

Freeman Grant Cary Pleasant Hill Academy is a schoolhouse built in 1832 with Greek Revival architecture located in Cincinnati, Ohio. The building features tall columns and a classical design that remains well-preserved, showcasing the architectural style of its era.

Freeman Cary founded the academy in 1832 starting with just four students in his home on College Hill, and it grew to over 120 students by its final year. The institution later became the Ohio Military Institute in 1890 and remained in operation until 1958.

The academy served the local community as a gathering place for education and meetings beyond its role as a school. The site reflects how the Cary family shaped educational ideas in Ohio during the early development of the region.

The site is located in Cincinnati near College Hill and is easily accessible from the city. The historic building is no longer operational as a school, but visitors can view the preserved architecture from the exterior and explore the surrounding area.

Freeman Cary's sister Phoebe Cary was a well-known poet, and the family had significant influence on the region's development. The site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, officially recognizing its importance to Ohio's history.
