Graham Court, Renaissance Revival apartment building in Harlem, US

The eight-story Graham Court spans an entire block between West 116th and 117th Streets, featuring limestone base and tan brick upper floors.

William Waldorf Astor commissioned this residential complex in 1899, investing $500,000 for its construction which completed in 1901.

The building changed from exclusively white residents to accepting black tenants in 1928, marking a significant shift in Harlem's residential patterns.

Located at 1921 Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard, the building contains 93 apartments with direct access to the 2, 3, B, and C subway stations.

The interior courtyard, originally filled with ornamental plants, provided natural ventilation to apartments through a design similar to Italian palazzos.
