The facility includes a four-story press box, renovated locker rooms, expanded concession stands, and a modern scoreboard equipped with video display capabilities.
The stadium opened on September 26, 1964, following construction that began with groundbreaking on October 12, 1963. The field evolved with improvements over the decades as the university's athletic programs expanded and facilities were modernized.
The stadium brings together the University of Tennessee at Martin community for Skyhawks football games and regional athletic events. The playing field displays the Skyhawk logo at midfield, reinforcing school pride and identity.
The stadium offers chairback seating on both the eastern and western sides, providing good sightlines to the field for most visitors. Modern concession areas and facilities throughout the venue make it easy to find food, restrooms, and other amenities during events.
The playing field has used FieldTurf since 2008, featuring varied shades of green that make the surface visually interesting and durable. This artificial surface was chosen to maintain consistent playing conditions and reduce maintenance needs over time.
