Hannah Robinson Tower, Observation tower in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, United States.
Hannah Robinson Tower is a wooden observation tower in South Kingstown located where Tower Hill Road and Bridgetown Road meet. The structure rises approximately 40 feet (12 meters) and provides views toward the Atlantic Ocean.
The original tower was constructed in 1938 by the Civilian Conservation Corps and served as a military observation post during World War II. Following damage over the years, it was reconstructed in 1988 using its original support pillars.
The tower is named after Hannah Robinson, daughter of a wealthy colonial planter who spent her life in Rhode Island. Her name marks this location as a place tied to her family's prominence in the region.
The tower is easy to locate along the road intersection and visible from the surrounding area. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes when approaching the site, particularly if the ground is wet or muddy.
Near the tower sits a cube-shaped rock where Hannah Robinson rested during what would be her final visit to view her homeland. This spot holds a personal connection to her departure from Rhode Island.
